Friday – 7:30 AM.
There’s a lot of excitement for the weekend in Britain for
attending two gigs of the Duran Duran Christmas Tour.
Together with Paola, Joe, of the Staff, and Francesco, I drove to
the airport where we had a rendezvous with some members of our Community!
After taking a picture all together, it was time to “takeoff”!
After arriving in Glasgow airport, we went straight to the venue,
SECC, where the line was very organized and strictly under the eyes
of the security.
While awaiting to get in, we had a chance to hear the band rehearsing…
as more gasoline on a lit fire!
Finally when gates opened, with some luck, we could fit in a perfect
spot, third row, and center of the stage, right in front of Simon.
The opening act is from Orson, and the atmosphere is getting hotter
and hotter.
Finally the lights went down and that was the beginning of the SHOW!
The adrenaline is really high when the first screen with Simon lights
up, one after the other, the remaining 4, with the rest of the band.
Here they are now on stage, the music starts and Friends of Mine
opens the show!
After last summer Italian Tour, it’s great to see them again
in great shape! They all smile and they seem having a good time
and so it’s the audience, of course!
Following is Planet Earth, then Sound of Thunder mixed with Hold
Back the Rain! The set list of the night is definitely different
and giving us a lot of emotions with remarkable songs such as Skin
Trade, Electric Barbarella and Point Of No Return.
With Save A Prayer, the audience is a full backing chorus and lights
from the cell phones.
But with Girls On Film we had the best surprise… Simon, after
introducing the band, dived in the crowd, not too far from me, and
I could barely take a couple of pictures because of all the excitement
that was surrounding me.
Rio has marked the end of the show, before the encores, and we were
breathless when two air cannons, on the stage, shot and explosion
of confetti into the air. The
notes of A Fatal Kiss introduce the encores, and the screens are
showing girls silhouettes playing violins, flutes and harps. The
visual effects are pretty extraordinary.
Then the band took back the stage introducing A View To A Kill and
Wild Boys right after.
Explosions and flames on stage remarked an amazing ending and the
highest climax of the show. Without
a doubt, this has been the best Duran Duran concert I’ve ever
seen! A+++ After
the show, we really felt like we needed to approach the band and
cheering with them.
We had time to spend some time with them as you can tell from the
pictures here below.
They were all extremely nice, signing autographs and speaking with
us before they eventually went into the Hotel.
Together
with the pictures, please also find an amazing preview video, as
a significant extract of the show!
As a Christmas treat, in the following days, we will post more pictures
and surprises.
Tomorrow, it will be another adventure… BIRMINGHAM!
