Our
adventure started at Malpensa airport, in the morning of September
23, meeting with Manu, Paola, Giorgio, Joe and little Alessandro.
The excitement is extraordinary and we all can not wait to see
Duran Duran performing.
Very proudly, we also look forward to take some pictures and
clips for all Astronaut.it members that couldn’t make
it to the show.
As soon as we arrived in Warsaw, we met with other DD fans,
either members of Astronaut.it community, either friends of
ours or just belonging to other worldwide fan clubs.
It has been a pleasure knowing Maciek and Anna, and their pal
“El Diablo”, staff of Duran Duran Poland.
In occasion of the concert, there was a special Duran Duran
bus service that drove us from the airport to the venue.
When we finally arrived at the hippodrome, there was a lot of
people leaving from another concert just finished so it ended
being pretty easy for us to reach the front stage area and having
a great view.
…Here you go, the show is starting and that’s Hungry
Like The Wolf the opening song!!!
The acoustic is excellent and so are the lights effects…
The band looks in great shape although that Andy Taylor is not
there and we definitely miss his guitar.
The set list goes on and it’s great! Although that the
special effects of the 2005 “Christmas Tour” (fires
and explosions) are not part of this particular stage settings,
the emotions are still incredible.
Taking pictures and video clips wasn’t easy at all, because
of the very strict security, and a lot people around us were
caught and had their cameras taken away. The
end of the show, with the encores, remarked the highest excitement
for the 80,000 fans that came for the show from all over Europe
and overseas too.
After DD went backstage, Vivaldi music and pretty spectacular
fireworks were still very entertaining.
As the crowd started leaving, we had the pleasure to meet
with Peter and the staff of DuranDuranEurope, taking also
some nice pictures together.
We all wanted to see the band and congratulate for their great
show… and, luckily, we didn’t have to wait for
too long…
I had a chance to speak with Roger about the show and he asked
me how was the acoustic and if drums sounded good. I realized
that I was talking to my IDOL, as we have been good old friends!!
I asked him about Andy Hamilton, which I personally really
admire and I had more than one occasion to speak with; Roger
told me that Andy Hamilton is currently touring with other
artists.
I asked then about Andy Taylor but Roger didn’t give
too many details about his absence therefore I decided on
not asking any further.
At the same time, I’m also thrilled watching a delightful
scene of Simon talking and smiling to little Alessandro, introducing
himself saying, “My name is SIMONE” (Italian for
Simon).
The band then left, as they had to attend a private party
thrown in their honor.
It’s almost early morning and we’re on our way
back home full of great memories and with a new amazing experience
in our hearts.
Thanks
to City Of Warsaw, all Polish and European fans that I had
a chance to meet, even briefly… ALL OF YOU GUYS HAVE
BEEN FANTASTIC!
Stay
Tuned!!!
